In the desert regions of Jaipur, artisans craft each one of our block-printed bedcovers by hand. The process begins with a centuries-old technique of hand carving the pattern into wooden blocks; artists then dip the block in dye and apply the design to the fabric. The dyes are handmade of imaginative earthen, vegetable, and mineral blends to create the vivid red, blue, and gold hues, making this one of the most original, one-of-a-kind designs among our bedspreads and comforters.

The intricate floral and vine motif of our all-cotton Floral and Vine Country Matelasse Coverlets is a rarity; achieving such a detailed print is quite difficult on a textured woven matelasse.
